With summer fast approaching we needed to get something to help with gnats, flies, and mosquitoes. Since we already use led bulbs I figured this would be a good fit. We tried it our front porch first because I get tired of fighting the the little bugs when we come home in the evenings. The bugs are attracted to the light so the number was reduced almost immediately. My fixture has a decorative cover over it so the flies and mosquitos really never got close enough to be zapped. We moved it to the back yard without a cover and it was more effective there. The bulb comes with a brush to clean it off but we have also used a cotton ball or dry cloth if we didn't have the brush close by. Overall, I like the bulb. It gives off enough light in the porch areas and helps with the bugs that can actually get to it.
This Dual LED Lightbulb and Bug Light Zapper is the best invention since sliced bread. The light comes packaged in a box for protection, includes instructions for use and a cleaning brush to get the dead bugs off the light.
The Zapplight bulb fits into your standard light fixture. It screws into place just as a regular bulb. The light has an LED light on the bottom and bug light zapper in the middle. It can be used as just a light as well as with just the bug light zapper.
We have three dogs in the house and it seems we are constantly letting one out the door all hours of the day and night. At night when the dogs go out and we turn on our back porch light that is located right next to the door gets a large buildup of flying bugs around it. Every time I open the door to let the dogs in the bugs end up flying into our house. It was a never ending situation until I stumbled upon this gem, seriously why hadn't I thought of this!
The light is perfect for year round use here in the Northwest. I can use just the LED light during the cold months and the combination of both during the warm bug filled months. The light draws the bugs in just as my previous light did only this one zaps them dead keeping them out of my home. After just the first use I have decided to replace the front porch bulbs with these as well.
The only thing that I wish I could change is that I couldn’t use my light enclosure as it would defeat the purpose of the light. I did however start looking for an alternative and found there are light fixtures with an open bottom and have decided to try them as I still like the overall look of having an enclosure as opposed to stand alone bulb.
The bulb is made of plastic material so it won't easily break like a glass bulb. The middle of the light where the bug light zapper is illuminates a purplish blue color and has a metal caging around it. To switch between the different light settings just flick the light switch on and off continuously until you get the lighting setting you want (both on, light on/bug zapper off, bug zapper on/light off, both off).
Overall this is such a convenient bulb to have. It is energy efficient and lasts up to 13 years. It was love a first sight for me.
I can not stand bugs... I would go as far as to say I freaking hate them. I can kill them as long as they are not too scary looking, but if they look disgusting and are hairy or something... no way in the world am I getting close to that bug.
This insect killer light bulb arrived safely and not broken. It is in a clearly labeled package and I knew what it was upon arrival. It is winter and really cold here, so we haven't really had a lot of bugs lately. However, in the summer time we gets bugs like crazy because we live in the country. I did put this up anyway, despite the fact we don't have too many bugs. I was actually surprised to hear it zap as often as I do. The bugs that do get in are really attracted to this lightbulb and when they get to it... they get zapped.
I really like this multitask 2 in 1 Light with built in bug zapper. This replaced my regular bulb on my patio and saves me money by not buying a stand alone bug zapper as well as space. It is very effective and covers about 500 feet.
I live in Florida and we have all kinds of bugs. This fits a regular 110v socket without the loud buzzing of traditional bug zappers.
This bulb can be used indoors or outdoors. It comes with a cute little brush for easy cleaning and instruction manual.
Finally we can enjoy some drinks with family and friends without the bug bites!!!
So first things first. I was not expecting this to be here until Wednesday but I got it today! Yay for fast shipping service! It was also well packaged as I'm always worried about that when buy bulbs/breakables. Upon inspection first thing I noticed was the weight. It's heavy for being a light bulb. Which to me screams sturdy.
Now we plug it in and watch the show begin. This thing is genius! Ir attracts and attacks. We live in the country and the critters will literally tote you off. We can actually sit outside after dark without being carried off and fed on. Overall I love this product and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get rid of pesky critters!
I really like this concept as I get a lot of bugs at the foyer area in our home. Mostly moths and flying insects, but flies and gnats and other pests also come in through our doors a lot. It seems worse at night since we use a porch light and they congregate right by the door.. so its our foyer that I am constantly trying new pest control things with.
I have tried to use the plug in and spray on repellers, they don't last long or not at all in some cases. I tied citronella candles and jars that stay without lighting. I even tried another bug light that was outdoor rated. It seems that most times these were not effective. Even the bug light that zaps. It was just ho hum, sometimes we heard it zap .. but no bugs were flying around, and then it shorted out in a week or a little more. So I was less than impressed.
This was different. I do think it is effective if the bug flies into the light.. we watched two moths commit to their death and it is gruesome to watch, as well as you find the dead moth carcuses in the floor, so you have to get them up. Be prepared for that. But you do not have flying bugs for the most part. Some of the bugs were smarter and avoided the lights all together and made it into the rest of the house, but if there was a pheromone or some kind of attractor maybe it would attract more.
For the most part though it does kill them like it says it will, and its super easy to operate. Up once for the light with zapper, then off and on again and it is only the bug light. It does not fit into all areas, especially recessed or places where you have covers, you may have to remove the cover to use it, that is what we had to do.
The Zapplight is a lifesaver. As the number of disease carrying mosquitoes increases in Southern California, this product couldn't have come at a better time. I placed one bulb in a lamp near my front door about a week ago and there hasn't been one bug spotted in my house since. I'm definitely ordering more to replace the bulbs in each of my rooms.
The packaging is simple. The bulb doubles as an LED to light your room and a UV to zap any bugs. The great part is that you can turn off the LED while the UV stays on, taking care of any unwanted flying pests. The design is modern and clean. You get the benefit of eradicating bugs without having to hang one of those bulky, loud buzzing traditional bug zappers.
I left the bulb exposed the bugs found it, however I think if it was covered, it would be very difficult. It took a while for the bugs to get to the light but they did eventually and yup they were zapped! They stick to the light pretty much so I used a Qtip to wash them off. I am hoping this kills more bugs in my future. However, this is a great product and I would definitely repurchase more in the future.
